For The Love of Cookies

One time or another we have all fallen into the new year trap, yes you know what it is. The restrictive diets. The one where you swear off rice and bread? Or is it the one when you give up your favorite food item only to find yourself thinking about it more than ever. I hated the idea of the juice "cleanse" or even low carbs because I felt like I would die of starvation. If you didn't know, I love love love trying new restaurants and all kinds of gourmet food. High-Key I would love to be a food critic; so you can see why "dieting" never really worked for me.

Instead of picking up a new diet, I made a goal for myself to pay more attention to portions and frequency of eating. Most importantly asking the question " Am I Hungry?" before putting anything in my mouth. Can I balance out my love of cookies without depriving myself of my favorite comfort sweet? YESSS.

How I did this:  I don't buy them in large quantities. Usually I try to buy a box of (Crumbl or Insomnia) 4 or less. If there are only one or 2 left I'll save them for longer which in turn allows me to enjoy my favorite gourmet cookies but I could go a week with two cookies waiting on me for their moment to shine with a glass of oat milk.

Another find that has led me to success in healthy eating is the Food Heaven Podcast. These two episodes were very helpful in thinking about my relationship to food AND making better decisions to eat healthy/ prep my food for the week. Their website also has a ton of tasty recipies. Everyone has a new year hustle that is supposed to make them lose weight or "live a healthier life". So while those people make money off the high likelihood that people will not see their resolution through Q1, I want to recommend the Food Heaven Podcast with REGISTERED DIETITIANS.  Their episodes are short and not pushy while covering all kinds of healthy eating options. They talk about their personal relationships with food and share some positive prompts to think through for yourself. If you are interested in some new podcasts to try, check out my podcast recommendations.

Last note, you don't have to start on a Monday, the first of January or even a special day to be successful. Start when you are ready and you have a good reason why you need to make this change. Life is too short to live with out cookies.
